About the Production
'The New World Order' is a two part, four hour drama produced and directed by myself, and adapted from the acclaimed novel by Ben Jeapes.
It is an epic English Civil War thriller where history is turned upon its head. From the outset it is clear that something is not right, many round head troops carry rifles instead of muskets, the alien splutter of machine guns shatter the cavalry charge at the battle of Newbury and airships drone over the Tower of London. Slowly Jeapes alternative history unravels as we are introduced to communities of people who are flooding in from a parallel world. One of these is John Donder who returns to England to find his lover is dead and a teenage son he never knew existed. If this wasn’t enough he has also been tasked with leading an invasion of England for his Lord The Domon’el.

Judges Comments
- An excellent piece of radio drama... The acting is tremendous, the score and sfx really bring to life the drama and emotion of the story... This certainly does sound like a radio version of a Hollywood blockbuster. Impressive work by the producer and his cast.
- This is obviously an ambitious and grand production, huge in scope. It's well acted and confidently performed. It's a weighty text and that is respected in the adaptation. The use of SFX is strong and the music is compelling.
- Huge cast and a skilfully executed drama. Very difficult to do, but tackled with great radio production ability.
- Tremendously ambitious project, impressively realised. Music, effects and performances all of high standard, combined to powerful effect. It took me into a world both fantastic and horribly real, and held me throughout, although I knew nothing of Jeapes' work.
- Hugely ambitious and brilliantly done. Well written, performed and produced. A stand-out winner.
