About the Series
Initially conceived as a short stage piece by writer Ed Greenwood I had the pleasure of first directing the 15 minute piece and then working closely with Ed to develop the initial short script into a 3 part radio sitcom.
Trimble’s been thrown out of ‘the force’ and has ended up as a P.I. although his cases haven’t been that interesting ever since Commissioner Farlen passed a law outlawing all crime in the state, but when Mr. Fluffy comes through his door something might be about to change...
The production became the first student production to be nominated for The BBC Audio Drama Awards.

Judges Comments
- Great production values from the off and laugh out loud funny moments, even on a second listen. Love the ambition of doing this with live musicians and in front of a live audience too. This makes laughing along all the more authentic. Really enjoyed the silly sense of humour in places too, great writing behind some of the gags.
- An ambitious project - live audience radio performance is not as easy as it sounds. The obvious pitfall is losing sight of whether you're playing to the audience in the room or the audience listening to the radio - but this doesnt, and the gags work for both. The acting is strong... and the production is impressive.
- Really good quality sound for an audience recording. Good script, good accents, professional sounding, live music - really enjoyed listening and great response from the audience.
- Very difficult to do live and in front of a studio audience, but pulled off with great confidence.
- It was very ambitious to perform a drama in itself and then to record in front of a live audience was very brave but it paid off and it sounded great. I was also impressed by the fact that they noir style never slipped and the story was still easy to follow.
- Good Gags Good recording Nice idea Great use of music Good script... Real class Well worth an award
- Clever and funny exploitation of the genre. Strong atmosphere. Tight production. I look forward to hearing more from these talented people.
- Ambitious, funny and kept me listening. I liked the silly nature of the script and despite some telegraphed jokes the knowing performances more than carried it off.
